Tivo Alert: Avril will be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this THURSDAY! She will probably be performing The Best Damn Thing.

Canadian pop superstar Avril Lavigne returns to the Halifax Metro Centre with her Best Damn Tour on Sun., Aug. 10.

The concert tour follows her successful third studio album Best Damn Thing, which has been certified platinum in the U.S and sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide since its release last year.

Produced by Butch Walker and her husband Deryck Whibley, Best Damn Thing is a spirited project preceded by the chart-topping single, Girlfriend, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. The high energy of the album will be reflected in Lavigne’s stage show, which features dancers and a live band.

Special guest for this tour is Massachusetts rock band Boys Like Girls.

Tickets for the Halifax date go on sale on Sat., April 26 at 9 a.m. Seats are $49.50 and $54.50 (plus service charge), and tickets can be purchased at the Metro Centre’s Ticket Atlantic box office (451-1221 or www.ticketatlantic.com) and at all participating Atlantic Superstore outlets.

Just Jared (plus entourage) went to see Avril Lavigne in concert earlier this month at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. And it was crazy fun from start to finish!

The 23-year-old Canadian singer rocked out on her pink drum set, endeared with her piano-playing and jammed on her bejeweled electric guitar. Avril’s voice also carried beautifully across the coliseum. It sounds fantastic live. If you watch her in concert yourself, you’d be impressed. Just be prepared for excessive amounts of marching and fist-pumping! Ra-ra-ra!

Avril was at the Juno Awards, and while she lost out to Feist :/, she rocked the house with a performance of “Girlfriend” and she looked gorgeous! I added a few pictures to the gallery:
